Bianco Alpi

Bianco Alpi is recognised from the doorway. Across a very open white appear green and brown patches that follow no line: they gather, they open, and between them they leave whole clearings of untouched stone. It is a marble composed in areas rather than in veins, and from that comes a useful warning — it is worth deciding early how it will be cut, because turning a slab completely changes what ends up on the wall, and that decision is taken before installation. It answers throughout the house, worktop included, and belongs to that class of marbles still convincing once the previous year's fashion has passed.
