Calacatta Viola

Calacatta Viola is one of those stones that admit no middle ground. Over a creamy white spreads a mesh of violet veins, almost wine, closing in some places into dark knots and opening in others to leave the background clean; along the edge of some an ochre shows through that warms the whole. It answers throughout the house — flooring, cladding, kitchen, bathroom and outdoor work — uncommon in a marble so strongly marked. Laid as a single piece it is a project decision: beside it, everything else is chosen plain.
