Volcano

Volcano is a dark stone made of fragments. The background is almost black, with a warm undertone of burnt earth, and across it runs a net of very fine white and grey veins that join one piece to another and give the surface a relief that does not exist. From a distance it is a deep black; up close it is a map. It is laid in flooring, full-height cladding, bathrooms and outdoor spaces, and in a dark bathroom is where it gives most, because the pale net gathers what light there is. It is one of those stones that make everything else look lighter.
