The mountain, in a planter

These natural stone planters are made in two white marbles from the collection: Calacatta Turquoise and Calacatta Clásico. The idea fits in one sentence — the same stone with two finishes, texture on the body and polish on the top, so that the contrast between them reads both close up and from a distance.

The texture of the vertical face reproduces the marble as it appears in the mountain, before it is cut: irregular surface, relief and breaks that follow no repeated pattern. It is worked piece by piece, so no two faces are alike. Under raking light that relief casts its own shadow and the planter changes through the day.

The top is polished marble, smooth and square-edged over the textured body. That is what makes the texture read as a decision rather than a coarse finish: beside a polished surface, the rough one is understood.

The pieces were cut following the direction of the vein and installed numbered, so the figure continues from one face to the next around the corner. Both marbles take outdoor use, and that is what allows them in a private garden, on a terrace and in public space.
